Are you sure that the 1500 Turbo was offcicially available?

I checked it now. It seems like this engine was available only to racing version in A class races.

Formally Polonez was designed to modern Fiat DOHC 1600, 1800 and 2000 engines, but suddenly our government realised that we don't have enough money for buying license, so they stay with little modernised Fiat Milletreciento and Millecinquecento engines. AFAIR these 2000's was a limited part of cars, mainly for police(militia) and Government Security Bureau - a very little of them gets into private hands (if any). FSO just bought a part of complete engines and mounted it.

In 1985 China ordered 25000 Polonez cars, which most of them were used as a taxis.
