Wikipedia says that the R63 was only ever assembled in Alabama. From what I could infer, only the engine was manufactured in Affalterbach, while Mercedes does not have any assembly plants in Mexico City. (They do have four manufacturing facilities in Mexico, though I doubt any of them built the low-volume R63)

As for production numbers, it seems that between 30 and 44 R63s were produced.

That is, 30 - 44 sold in all of North America. From what I could find, there are less than 200 in the world.
