i've read on the dakar page that this car has a 3 series engine so thats the reason they called it Trio.

Btw, the successor is called BMW X1 but its still a Dakar Prototype with absolutely no relation to the real X1 you can buy at the car dealer. The design is also still from a BMW 1 series.
