2020-10-14 11:25 | 2006 saw Subaru's return to SCCA Rally after a two-year of absence. The car used in the year of return is the Subaru Impreza WRX STi, which was the model released a year before and it was also prepared by Vermont SportsCar. This car is known as VT7r internally and it has competed on Open Class, having won 4 consecutive SCCA Rally championships. It has competed until 2008, when all-new Hatchback Subaru Impreza STi has debuted in Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally 2008. It has debuted in 2nd round of SCCA, but unfortunately, in that year, Mark Lovell and Roger Freeman died in a tragic accident after the SS1 of Oregon Trail Rally 2003. The Finn duo Pasi Hagström/Marko Taskinen joined the team, but unfortunately, Subaru USA Rally Team has withdrawn at the end of 2003 season, citing lack of manufacturer competition. All aero modifications used in 2001 season were discarded and in 2002 season, they were reverted to the original WRX aero. It competed in 2002 season, winning the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb and the Maine Forest Pro Rally. It was raced until the first round of 2003 SCCA Rally.
