2016-01-22 17:24 | JFK a écrit - one year lasting "Chrom a plameny" US car magazine subscription That's originally a German magazine ("Chrom und Flammen") I read it too, but nowadays only used ones that I buy from the flea market. I got all issues from 2000 for Christmas to expand my collection.
Desscythe17 2016-01-16 20:20 | sajmon14 a écrit why origin UK, not Germany? The Ford Capri was apparently based on the underpinnings of the Ford Cortina, which is a British Ford.

JFK 2016-01-10 16:57 | Desscythe17 a écrit Maybe it's an idea to remove those draggable pictures from the homepage? They don't really serve any purpose and all the cars in them are at least 5 years old. And that empty space is very convenient for the Rinspeed idea posted on Escort Cabrio mk5 page: Rinspeed a écrit i had another idea. A system of election vote: For example each week (or less?) there is a question and a list of 10 cars (that was post by a member before): For example: Best Concept in Frankfurt? Most Iconic Car in Dakar? Most Beautiful Super Mini cars? Most ugly car? Best James Bond cars? etc

JFK 2016-01-07 22:35 | To not fill other pages with ideas, I will post my idea here. Secondary, tertiary and quaternary categories could be added. These would have things that makes the car trully special (3 new categories with exact same thing in it, because cars can have more special things about them). Also you could find all cars with certain ability and see them all at once. The things you can add to each car would be for instance: 6 wheels Amphibious abilities Long production run (VW Beetle, Lada, 2CV, Mini) Movie/TV show car Song is about this car (worldwide examples - Little Deuce Coupe, 409, Hey Little Cobra, One piece at the time, examples from Czech Republic- Embéčko, Cadillac, Felicia...) Wankel engine Turbine engine Gullwing doors (other crazy styled doors like Bond Bug´s mono door openable upwards and BMW Z1´s downwards sliding doors included) Three-wheeler Car is longer than 6 meters (I guess you dont see many of those even in USA) Pop-up headlights Gas guzzler (average fuel consumption over maybe 15 liters) Flying car (yes, even these are on site) Plastic body (Vettes used to have it (or maybe still have it, I dunno), Trabant is famous because of it - "How can you make 12 000 guitar pics at one moment? Crash a Trabant.") 2-stroke engine And so on, and so on. -- Last edit: 2016-01-18 21:57:03

Desscythe17 2015-12-24 12:39 | Rinspeed a écrit i don't know when i will do them. When i work, i don't have motivation for that and for holiday i'm not always at home (like now). But at least it will be done this summer (because if i hadn't do before, each summer, i had 2 month of holiday). I thought teachers had lots of free time It doesn't matter if you can't immediately implement ideas, as there is plenty of other work on Webcarstory anyway, and good ideas take time

JFK 2015-12-21 22:23 | One time this was a car that I wanted to import to CZ and drive it like a boss. What a silly idea I got quite interesting idea of future update. What about adding car commercials to vehicles? They could be listed by the country they were released in and a year. Year could be yellow so we can look to all commercials of that year, could be sorted by countries for better clarity. I badly photoshoped my idea:

JFK 2015-10-15 21:40 | Desscythe17 a écrit And yes, I deleted top speed, acceleration and fuel economy because it is not reliable for such old cars. Every two sources says something different. My two sources confirm same ones - magazine and website. But ok.
JFK 2015-10-15 21:39 | Desscythe17 a écrit I believe you are talking about US modelyears, which my sources confirm. 1960 would be 1959-1960, and 1961 would be 1960-1961. Therefore, this page is dedicated to the 1961 Comet, built from 1960 to 1961. And therefore, both engines were available from beginning to end. Oh, we have got confused model years and production years. Model years were 1960-1961, but as a tradition, car was avaliable from autumn 1959 to autumn 1961. -- Last edit: 2015-10-15 21:41:13
Desscythe17 2015-10-15 21:37 | JFK a écrit Yes and apology acepted Ok, I can understand it. BTW, did you changed top speeds, 0-60 times and fuel economy to unknown? + in 1960 there was only 90HP version - some sources say it is 85HP, some 90HP. 101HP was only in 1961, and it was used after rebranding it to Mercury Comet from 1962 onwards. It was added as a option because 90/85 HP engine was sluggish. I believe you are talking about US modelyears, which my sources confirm. 1960 would be 1959-1960, and 1961 would be 1960-1961. JFK 2015-10-15 17:33 | Desscythe17 a écrit My apologies for the Canada-only thing, after some more research I found that the Comet was originally intended to be an Edsel, which went defunct just before the release. Therefore it was just called Comet for 1960 and 1961 (although it was sold through Mercury dealerships). In Canada, there was no 1960 Comet, as they sold the Frontenac there. Desscythe17 2015-10-14 23:38 | JFK a écrit No, it was not. Proof: Magazine Popular Mechanics was testing Comet in 1961. They were asking following Comet owners: manager from California, pensionist from Nevada, air-traffic guy from Georgia, technical drawer from Pennsylvania, bank employee from Michigan, retired firefighter from Michigan and doctor from California. In Chrom a Plameny magazine issue 05/15 is this car reviewed in 6 pages, that is quite a lot. It is a 1961 Comet of one lady from San Diego that bought it when it was brand new and she sold it to heir serviceman 4 years ago. Do you think that all these people would import the car from Canada? In fact 116 331 Comets were produced in 1960, which is strikingly better than Frontenac, that produced less than 10k, and it was still second best selling compact car in Canada. I doubt that "Comet only for Canada" would make such a monopoly, with advance nearly 100k more cars produced than Frontenac. I dont know either what was wrong with my front pic "EDIT: both" that it was replaced. JFK 2015-10-14 20:47 | In 1961 model year Comet replaced Canadian brand that lasted one year: Frontenac. It was basically luxurious Falcon with odd mask and with Ford badges replaced by round badge with red leaf that Canada have in national flag. -- Last edit: 2015-10-14 20:56:33
