Rinspeed, would it be possible to list cars on the make page by their class, from small to big, as an option instead alphabetically?

I meant like subcompact > compact > mid-size > full-size, but bodystyles like you said would also be nice.

too difficult by category. For bodystyle, more easy but i can't see what is interesting in that. Big hatchback will be with little hatchback for example.

That's true, I'm just looking for more work to do on cars I already added, so I can take a break from adding new cars :)

Also, as I told you before, I had ideas for connecting cars with sister cars (Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon, Cadillac Escalade or Daihatsu Move and Subaru Stella) and connecting cars with different bodystyles of the same years (Buick Century sedan would be connected with the Coupé and the Wagon) in the same way we connect cars with their predecessors/successors. You said you would look into it in your vacation, but I never heard anything about it... So could you tell me if you still want to make a system like that sometime, or if you don't want it?

What ever happened to the idea of splitting makes up in countries? (For example Ford UK, Germany, USA, Taiwan, Australia)
I often feel like the "actual" page is cluttered and full of cars that I'm not looking for.

We could split up brands in their regions, and duplicate cars that are sold in both regions, with only relevant engines and market-specific pictures.
It would make adding cars a lot easier, searching around the website easier, and no one would ever complain about EU-spec pictures on an American car or vice-versa.
Cars that only have a couple of different engines wouldn't have to be split up.

Also, the amount of regions shouldn't be too big. For example: Asia, Australia, Germany, France, UK, USA, etc. for a make like Ford.
But for most brands North America, South America, Europe and Asia (perhaps split in Japan, China, Southeast Asia and Australia) should be enough.

Another, simpler possibility would be to add a filter to the make page that allows you to select the country the car is made for (which is filled in for a lot of cars).

I don't remember that. It could be a good idea but i don't see how i could do it. There is already a lot of makes in the page makes, so if we divided the makes already here, there will be a lot and lot more. Doing a filter isn't a good idea i think because there is a lot of cars that haven't it complete. I don't see how doing that.

Well, adding more makes would be the easiest way, but like you said, we end up with even more makes on the makes page.
Maybe we should remake the makes page in a way that it's more organized?

How? An idea? (divided page makes in regions?)
I had some problem to understand something. You talk of Ford UK (in the past?), Germany, USA, and after that you talk of regions North America, South America, Europe... How can we know if a make will divided in region or countries??? You talk also of regions where the cars were sold, it's in contradiction with Ford UK/Germany (same region) that i think it's for construction not sold. And for example, Ford in France, you put it where?

Other example Cadillac: Cadillac (USA) and for the others countries?

Yes I don't know much about Ford back in the day, so that might have been a bad example. I didn't know British Fords and German Fords were sold in the same countries.

Anyway, I think it would be best to seperate brands by the manufacturer (for example Nissan, which would be seperated in Nissan North America (based in USA), Nissan Europe (based in UK), Nissan Mexico, Nissan Japan, Dongfeng Nissan in China, etc.
For some brands, like Volkswagen there will be many different ones, because they have subdivisions in many countries which produce different cars.

On the other hand, a marque like Cadillac which builds models that are sold everywhere doesn't need to be seperated and can stay the same.

We could also pick major markets, and put the rest under "other". Toyota North America, Toyota Japan, Toyota Europe, Toyota Other..?

Ok it could be ok for each country/region base manufacturer but i think there is some problems like for Korean cars. Kia Picanto for example, they were only from Korea but there are some difference (i think there is only 5 doors in Korea and 3/5 doors in Europe)and there are others only sold in Europe or USA but built in Korea i think. So how classify them with the system of manfacturer??

Well the manufacturer system should stay the same. On the makes page they should appear with (country) behind them, on the car pages themselves without (country) behind them.
Kia I think could be split in Kia and in Kia (USA). But the 3-door Picanto is very similar to the 5-door, so it can be under Kia from Korea.

There are some Kia/Hyundai only for Europe also (Kia ceed if i remember for example) so how can we dot that?... One European member can't see the Ceed in Kia Europe, The Picanto in Kia Korea? Kia Europe + USA + Korea?
And other thing when you said Kia USA on the make page, always with Korea flag?

Well either Kia in general then, or Kia USA, Kia Europe, Kia Korea. The Picanto 5-door will have to be duplicated then.
I was thinking about the Korean flag yes, since Kia USA is still of Korean origin, the car was designed there.

The Kia Picanto is called Morning in Korea and only in 5 doors and no same engines i think.

The system is already possible by creating the new makes and move some cars under the good make with change number make on a car page.

I don't think Audi needs to be seperated, except for the L-models, there are no exclusive models. In the past there was the 4000 and such for the USA, but they were built in Germany I believe, so they don't have to be split up.

So far, Buick, Chevrolet, Daihatsu, Dodge and Ford have been seperated (not entirely, I've left the cars that have to be duplicated behind).

It's been officially confirmed today that the North American market Regal will be discontinued after the 2020 model year, leaving Buick with a lineup of four crossover utility vehicles. The Regal will continue in China, though. That includes the GS and surprisingly decent selling TourX models.

Also, the LaCrosse still needs to be removed from current road cars, as that went out of production in North America back in February 15th of this year.

It’s my general policy to take cars out of the current car section when they are removed from the brand’s official website, not when their production halts.
